TMK (Tax Map Key) Basics

The TMK designates a property on a Plat Map for properties in the State of Hawaii. The Tax Maps Branch in the State of Hawaii assigns the TMK designations.

TMK numbers are broken down into six parts as follows:

1. Division: (1) Oahu, *(2) Maui, (3) Hawaii, (4) Kauai (One digit)

2. Zone: One digit

3. Section: One digit

4. Plat: Three digits

5. Parcel: Three digits

6. CPR: Four digits (CPRs are only for Condos, Townhomes, PUD, and additional CPR properties)

Example 1:

TMK below is written as 2-3-5-038-069-0000 or 2350380690000

*Side note: Division (2) Maui includes Molokai and Lanai properties.

To Search in Realist or Matrix 360 you can use either format:

A. 2-3-8-055-002-0000

B. 2380550020000

Please note:

The last four digits of the TMK can be left off if the property is not CPR’d or the CPR number is not available.

If the Parcel is not known the best way to search in Realist is by using “starts with”:

The more digits input in the TMK search, the better.
