What is the DOM count in the MLS?
Definition
DOM count represents the # of days a listing has been Active in the MLS.
Examples of how the MLS system counts the DOM:
When you change a listing to Active Status
DOM = # of days from Listing Date to Active status date.
When an Active listing is changed to Active Under Contract/Pending status (i.e., for 90 days), then the status was changed back to Active (the deal fell out of escrow).
DOM count = # of days from Listing Date to Active status date, minus the 90 days while in Active Under Contract/Pending status.
When an Active listing is changed to Hold (i.e., for 30 days), then the status was changed back to Active
DOM = # of days from the Listing Date to the Active status date, minus the 30 days while in Hold status.
Coming Soon listing moved to Hold, then changed to Active status
DOM = # of days from the Listing Date to the Active status date.
To exclude the # of days while a listing is in the Coming Soon status, the Listing Date must be changed to reflect the Active status date. Edit the Listing Date field before changing the status to Active will ensure an accurate DOM.
Notes:
When does DOM start? On the MLS Listing date
When is DOM paused? When the listing is active under contract, pending, or on hold.
